Jaimal Yogis: Surfer, Buddhist, author, family man and all round nice dude. That may not be the order he would put them in but for someone who has achieved so much it’s hard to pick what order to put them in.

His books include: The Saltwater Buddha , The Fear Project , All Our Waves Are Water and most recently Mop Rides The Waves Of Life a children’s book that we discuss on the Podcast episode.

In this episode Jaimal talks about surfing, meditation, family life and how he tries to to keep a balance to all these elements of his life.

We feel incredibly grateful and lucky to have the opportunity to chat to Jaimal Yogis. He was an incredibly humble, interesting, funny and articulate guest who gave us more than we could possibly ask for in this, our first podcast interview.

Jaimal talks about whether it is possible to bring the peace and meditative state he feels in the ocean to his everyday life now that he has children and the changes that brings to one’s life.

He talks about how he ran away from home to live in Hawaii at the age of 16 and learning to surf and what it felt like to paddle out in the big surf of Hawaii  to how it feels now taking his children back there and teaching them to surf.

Jaimal tells us about what it feels like and the terror of surfing Mavericks  and how he conquered his fear in his book The Fear Project to the lessons hes learnt from his own children in the process of writing his new book Mop Rides the Wave of Life.
