Part 1 of 2…. The Anatomy Of A Surfer
We chat to Alan from Adrenaline Athlete, a new online adrenaline sport fitness coaching company.
Before we sat down with Alan to record this episode, we met up at the Wave in Bristol for a surf session and a takeaway after so we were all relaxed and ready for a great chat about fitness.
Alan introduces himself and explains his background in fitness. Alan is a qualified strength and conditioning coach for the GB Cycling Team, he also trains private clients and is a keen surfer. After a few years away from surfing, Alan booked a surf at Surf Snowdonia. During this session, he realises how he isn’t Surf Fit anymore. This sparks an idea in his fitness coaching brain to create a program specifically for surfers and landlocked surfers. He breaks down each component that makes up what a surfer experiences in a surf session and approaches designing the program in the same way he would create a program for the GB Cycling Team.
Alan decides to send an email to us asking if we would be up for a challenge. We accept. Alan then sends us the program and we begin to train! We talk about our experiences while following the program and how it has improved our surfing.
Alan also explains some of the exercises, the components that make up a surf session and the exercise that will help train for each component.
This was a great chat that became 2 episodes due to the amount of information Alan has to give. These episodes will be valuable for surfers struggling with their fitness or land locked surfers wanting to be surf fit and ready for the next time they are able to get to the beach.
